Laundry is one of the practical services SALT provides to meet people where they are. With our mobile laundry trailer, guests can wash and dry their clothes while connecting with team members like Joy along the way.

Sometimes support looks like a fresh load of laundry, a familiar face, and one less barrier to navigate that day. 💙

Yesterday marked International Overdose Awareness Day, and today begins National Recovery Month.

SALT Outreach partners with Recovery Connections of Central Florida to connect people with free Narcan, peer-led recovery support, and resources for their individual recovery journeys.

Their Certified Recovery Peer Specialists use lived experience to help people establish recovery goals, navigate resources, and explore multiple pathways to long-term recovery.

If you or someone you know needs support, call the Recovery Connections 24/7 helpline at 407-RECOVER (407-732-6837)

Recovery is possible, and no one should have to navigate it alone.

With Summer SALT wrapping up in just three days on August 31, we’re celebrating the people who make this work possible—including Melba (slides 1 & 4), who at 87 is the oldest volunteer at our Lake County location.

We are incredibly grateful when groups like the Central Florida Indian Community step up to provide essential supplies for our outreach centers. One of our Sanford guests was happy to receive his bike the other day 🚲

Transportation is a huge barrier for people experiencing homelessness. A bike can change someone’s trajectory in an instant. So grateful for our bike program partners like who makes sure our guests have what they need to be successful!

As summer comes to a close, so does the SALT Cooling Center.

Since opening on June 15, the Cooling Center has provided a safe, air-conditioned space for some of the most vulnerable members of our community during periods of extreme heat.

So far, 502 people have been served with access to a place to cool down, rest, hydrate, receive mental health support, and connect with additional resources.

The center has also helped our team respond proactively when individuals showed signs of heat exhaustion and other heat-related illnesses, helping prevent situations from becoming emergencies.

The SALT Cooling Center will remain available through August 30 when the heat index reaches 103°F or higher, serving individuals age 50+ and families.

We are grateful to the City of Orlando for making this initiative possible and helping us keep our neighbors safe during Central Florida’s hottest months.
