Last week, Judges Shaffer and Laurent attended the annual Florida Children and Families Summit right here in Orlando! They joined community leaders and other court professionals from across the state to connect, collaborate, and share ideas on how to strengthen services for families in Florida. The Ninth recently had the pleasure of welcoming Portuguese and Brazilian students from Internazionale Juris Academy into the Orange County Courthouse. Judge Laurent welcomed the students into her courtroom, shared her insights on criminal court, what it's like to be a judge, and how our circuit operates on a day-to-day basis. The visit wrapped up with a Q&A session filled with great conversation and questions. It was another great day at the Ninth, and our judges are always honored to host conversations and share ideas with groups from around the world!

Last week, Judge Laurent, Judge Calderon, and Judge-Elect Miranda joined the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida's annual Path to the Bench Luncheon at the Orange County Courthouse. Our judges spent the afternoon hosting a conversation about their unique paths to the bench, their experiences along the way, and answering many thoughtful questions from local attorneys. It was another great afternoon at the Ninth and our judges are already looking forward to next year's panel!
