Este año es aún más especial, ya que conmemoramos la vigésima edición del Mes de la Herencia Hispana de la Alcaldía de Orlando. Durante dos décadas, hemos creado espacios para reconocer las raíces, compartir cultura y destacar el talento, la creatividad y las contribuciones de todos los hispanos y latinos que enriquecen a Orlando cada día. Today, city staff and Orlando Fire Department joined thousands across the country in honoring 9/11 through a day of service.

We came together to help pack 17 million meals for families in need and .

Following the Pulse tragedy, communities around the country sent love to Orlando. The support included a gift from the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, which provided a seedling from the 9/11 Survivor Tree.

That seedling - planted at Harry P. Leu Gardens - has grown into a symbol of our city’s strength and resilience. It’s also a showcase of the kindness, compassion and unity that was displayed as Americans came together 25 years ago following the terrorist attacks.

On Monday, September 14, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and City Council will hold the first public Budget Hearing for Fiscal Year 2026/2027.

From clean water and trash removal to safe neighborhoods and reliable emergency response, local government touches every part of our day. The proposed balanced budget will maintain the City’s property tax millage rate for the 13th consecutive fiscal year, meaning the city will not increase its property tax rate.

The budget continues strong investments in essential city services, including public safety, infrastructure such as sidewalks and streets, and amenities such as neighborhood centers, parks and playgrounds.

Behind every hero’s story is a family who waited and hoped for news of their loved one. From a World War II escape to a 34-year search for answers after Vietnam, and a 22-day captivity in Iraq, the lived experiences of our POW/MIA families remind us to never forget.

On Friday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m., Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Veterans Advisory Council will host the 2026 POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
