The Orlando Metro Section of the American Planning Association, in collaboration with Central Florida ASPA, will be hosting an informative event - Tax Reform Explained: Impacts on Planning, Economic Development, and Local Government.

Come and join a panel of experts from planning, economic development, municipal finance, and redevelopment as they break down the Amendment 3 legislation. The goal is to separate fact from fiction, and discuss the potential impacts on local governments, infrastructure investment, economic competitiveness, and community redevelopment.

Whether you work in the public, private, or nonprofit sector, this timely discussion will provide valuable insights into one of the most significant policy issues facing Florida communities today. The program includes expert presentations, audience participation, and an interactive Q&A session.

Please note: This is a nonpartisan event. The views and opinions expressed by presenters are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of APA Florida.

🌳 The Planning Parent | Kick-Off Meet-Up
We're excited to launch The Planning Parent—a new informal community for planners who are also parents (or soon-to-be parents!).
No qualifications other than having people/someone you care for while being a working professional. This is targeted towards parents with young kids, but all parents or caretakers, no matter the age of the person they care for, have similar challenges with the balancing act of it all!

Whether you work in planning, engineering, landscape architecture, transportation, GIS, economic development, housing, emergency management, or a related field, join us for a relaxed morning of coffee, conversation, and fun.

📅 Saturday, August 8
🕘 9:00–11:00 a.m.
📍 Oh Hey Cafe / Open House Orlando
1325 Lee Road
Orlando, FL 32810

Free admission!

Bring the kids, grab a coffee if you'd like, and connect with others who understand the balancing act of professional life and parenthood. Come whenever you can and stay as long as you'd like.

Open House Orlando provides a wonderful indoor play environment for little ones while parents have an opportunity to meet, network, and simply enjoy being around others who "get it." There are also some board/card games and space for older kids to hang out.

For questions or to let organizers know to expect your attendance, you may contact Emily Bush, AICP, CPM ([email protected]), Emily Porter, ENV SP ([email protected]), Jady Chen, AICP ([email protected]), and/or Heather Croney ([email protected] / [email protected]).
