Orland Unified School District

Orland Unified School District This is the official Orland Unified School District page. Please visit our website to find out additional information about our district.

Orland Unified School District is located in Glenn County, about 100 miles north of Sacramento, in the fertile Northern Sacramento River Valley. Interstate 5 passes through Orland and offers good views of the widely diverse agricultural activities that provide a strong economic base for the area. A strong sense of community pride makes Orland a great place to live, grow and raise children. The city of Orland is a family-oriented community with excellent schools, many churches, a well-managed city library, civic-minded service organizations, and strong law enforcement. The Orland Volunteer Fire Department has provided fire protection to city and rural residents for over 75 years. Orland Unified is dedicated to achieving high standards. The state standards are taught at all grade levels with state-approved, newly-adopted textbooks and supporting materials. For example, these world-class standards start kids learning algebra concepts in the first grade. Sophisticated computer software tracks each student's progress, so that academic programs can be tailored to meet individual needs. The District plans to offer this software to parents, so they can participate more fully in their child's education. Since the Orland schools are now unified, curriculum articulation allows future teachers to build on the successes of the past. The goal is to provide seamless transitions between all levels of education, so that students do not experience gaps or unnecessary overlaps in their learning.

The Orland Unified School District is seeking community members interested in participating in a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC). The committee represents the public in ensuring the bond funds are expended within the constraints of the law. The CBOC is comprised of seven members who serve a four-year term and meet no more than two times annually (on average only once per year).

Participation on the CBOC provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the local education system, help improve our schools, as well as assist those in the community. For more information, please contact Victor Perry, Superintendent at (530) 865-1200.

CBOC Application | Please submit your completed application to the District Office, 903 South Street, Orland, CA, or by fax: 530-865-1200.

📚 READ. RISE. LEVEL UP! 📚

Today, we’re taking our literacy journey beyond the classroom and into our community! 💙

We stopped by the Orland Free Library, where Library Director Jody Meza shares some of the many resources and benefits available to our students, families and community.

And there’s so much more than books! 📖✨ The library’s website offers an extensive collection of online resources, including free online tutoring and Mango Languages, a great tool for learning a new language.

Whether you’re looking for your next great read, homework help, a new skill to learn, or a quiet place to explore, your local library has something for you!

🚨MASCOT SIGHTING!🚨

🦅 Falcon Sighting!

We had a new mascot sighting at Fairview Elementary today!

While visiting Fairview, we spotted the school’s brand-new mascot, the Falcon! 🦅

The Falcon tried to be sneaky… but we were a little stealthier and managed to capture a few photos! 📸😉

Keep your eyes peeled, you may spot the Falcon at upcoming school events! If you do, don’t be shy… come say hello and ask for a picture. 📸

Coming soon, Fairview students and staff will have the very important job of helping choose a name for their new mascot. We can’t wait to see what creative names they come up with!

What would YOU name Fairview’s Falcon? Drop your best ideas in the comments! 🦅💙

Learning in Action 📚

TK students have had a busy and exciting first two weeks of school! They have been exploring their new classroom, getting to know their teachers and friends, and learning our daily routines and expectations. We are learning that school is a place to feel safe, have fun, make friends, and learn through play!

Today, TK students in Mrs. Blevins’ class enjoyed learning centers focused on important early learning skills. They used paint daubers to practice the first letter of their name,
learned how to use scissors, and made patterns with frog-shaped counters.

Through these playful, hands-on activities, our TK friends are strengthening their fine-motor skills, recognizing colors and letters, developing creativity, and building independence.

We are off to a wonderful start! 💙🤍🐝

In our first weekly update learn about C.K. Price’s new CTE class, Career Exploration. The response to the new class offering has been incredible! Students are excited to enroll in the classes and will receive structured career exploration aligned with the available CTE pathways, many of which are available at Orland High School. By building early awareness, interest and readiness, the goal is to increase CTE participation and pathway completion at OHS preparing students for high-demand, high wage careers.
