🔈 The Early Antlerless Deer Season in the Southern Zone opens on September 12

The Early Antlerless Deer Season is an exciting time for hunters to get outside in September and contribute to effective deer management in areas of the state where increased harvest of antlerless deer is necessary to meet deer population objectives. Here are the details:

📅 The Early Antlerless Deer Season is open from Sept. 12 through Sept. 20 in Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) 1C, 3M, 3P, 3R, 3S, 4J, 6P, 7F, 7J, 7H, 7R, 8A, 8C, 8F, 8G, 8H, 8J, 8N, 8R, 8S, 9A, 9F & 9G
‼️ Only antlerless deer (those without antlers or having antlers less than three inches long) may be harvested.
🏷️ Only Deer Management Permit (DMP) or Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) tags may be used. There are unlimited DMPs available in all of the WMUs with the Early Antlerless Deer Season. Hunters should apply for DMPs in these WMUs ahead of time.
🦌 Hunters who harvest and report an antlerless deer on a DMP will receive a bonus DMP for the same WMU and a second Antlered Deer tag for the 2026-27 seasons through the new “Earn-a-2nd-Buck” program.

🔈 Attention Deer Hunters! Deer hunting seasons are approaching and it’s important to remember that DEC has adopted new hunting regulations to increase harvest of antlerless deer.

Under the new regulations, hunters can:
✅ Apply for up to FOUR 4️⃣ Deer Management Permits (DMPs): TWO 2️⃣ in Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) with limited DMPs and TWO 2️⃣ in WMUs with unlimited DMPs
✅ Transfer an unlimited number of DMPs to other hunters
✅ Harvest an unlimited number of antlerless deer in 23 WMUs with unlimited DMPs (1C, 3M, 3P, 3R, 3S, 4J, 6P, 7F, 7J, 7H, 7R, 8A, 8C, 8F, 8G, 8H, 8J, 8N, 8R, 8S, 9A, 9F & 9G)
✅ Participate in the nine-day season for antlerless deer in mid-September in those same 23 WMUs
✅ Earn a second Antlered Deer Tag by harvesting and reporting an antlerless deer.

Additionally, DEC’s “Choose A Doe” campaign reminds hunters of the important reasons why they should be harvesting antlerless deer.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS!
As of today September 3, the bridge on Simmons road is completely CLOSED to ALL traffic including pedestrians, horse and buggies, bicycles etc.
This bridge will remain closed for a undetermined period of time!
Please pass this info on to your friends and neighbors, so they can reroute thier travel...

Traffic Alert for September 3, 2026....
There will be a Amish wedding in Augusta.
Please use caution in the area of Spencer Road (State Rt 26, Augusta Solsville, Huth Sayer, Anderson and Griffith Roads) and be aware of the horse and buggies..
These weddings are pretty much a day long affair, so buggies will be present most any hour!

ALERT: The New York State DOT has provided a correction. The road work in the town of Augusta will begin on Tuesday, September 1, but the road closure itself will begin the next week, on Tuesday, September 8. The closure is expected to last approximately five weeks during the ten-week project.

So we are doing another garage sale... October 3rd from 9 to 4.
No fee, anything you make is yours.
You can choose to set up outside or indoors..
Provide your own tables and the only thing I ask is that nothing is left behind when done.

Im in search of OLD hay bales that aren't good to you all anymore, to be used Oct 30th to create a kids maze at this year's Trunk or Treat in Augusta.
