Got branches piling up? Let Orinda’s Chipper Program help!

Reducing wildfire risk starts at home, and clearing brush, branches, and small trees is a big step. The City of Orinda’s free chipper program makes it easy: simply pile your cut vegetation by the curb, our crews will haul it away.

How it works:
• Stack branches up to 6 inches in diameter, cut ends facing the street.
• Piles must be easily accessible and free of nails, wire, or other debris.
• The chipper crew will handle the rest.

This program is funded by Measure R to help keep our community safer and more fire-resilient.
Schedule your pickup today!

Together, making Orinda safer one pile at a time. 🌲➡️🌿

HOW: How Orinda Works is designed to give residents, business owners, students, and employees a fun, interactive, and behind-the-scenes look at how local government works.

Through presentations, tours, demonstrations, games, and conversations with City staff and partner agencies, participants will gain firsthand insight into the people, services, and decisions that keep Orinda safe, functional, and vibrant.

Sessions will cover topics including City governance, public works, planning, public safety, emergency preparedness, infrastructure, budgeting, and community services. Participants will also have opportunities to meet and engage with partner agencies, including the Moraga-Orinda Fire District, EBMUD, Republic Services, and Central San.

Turn your summer into a weekly celebration with Thursday Nights in the Heart of Orinda—your neighborhood summer soundtrack—where music fills the air, food trucks line the park, and movies light up the night from June through September at the Orinda Community Center Park.

Every Thursday, the park comes alive with the Taste of the World Market Food Trucks, serving up a delicious mix of local flavors and creating a can’t-miss community gathering in the heart of downtown Orinda.

Then, let the entertainment take over! Each week brings something new—whether it’s a lively Summer Concert in the Park from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., a Movie in the Park under the stars at sundown featuring family favorites, or a special outdoor performance in the amphitheater by the Orinda Starlight Village Players. With events rotating throughout the season, there’s always something to enjoy—no two Thursdays are the same.

All the fun takes place at the Orinda Community Center Park (28 Orinda Way). Be sure to check event dates and sunset times in advance—but if you make your way down to the park, you can count on great food, great company, and great entertainment every time.

I've worked as a camp counselor for three years at two different sleepaway camps and at Camp Orinda last year. A fun fact about me is that I have been biking to school for 5 years. I'm really excited to be your Camp Director this year and I can't wait to get the camp season started!

• Kandyce Pizano, Camp Coordinator: Hi! My name is Kandyce, and I graduated from California State University, East Bay in 2023. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in education along with my teaching credential. I currently work at a local elementary school in Orinda as an instructional aide and also help with the after-school program. In my free time, I enjoy reading books and playing games.

• Lizzie Howe, Camp Coordinator: Hi!!! My name is Lizzie! I have participated in Red Cross Leadership Camps for 3 years and have been a member of the Orinda Theater Community for the past 6 years. Once I graduate from Colorado State University with a degree in International Economic Development, I hope to join the Peace Corps. One fun fact about me: I am a Residential Environmental Leader for my university. I can't wait to start at Camp Orinda!
