We are heartbroken by the loss of Charlie Kirk. He was an honorable man who never wavered in his beliefs and always stood up for true principles. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of grief and remembrance.

While the pain is felt most deeply by his loved ones, our entire community and nation also mourn his passing. Charlie’s legacy lives on in the freedoms and liberties he worked so hard to defend, and it is up to us to carry on that work.

We will always be grateful for the voice he gave us, and for reminding us that we are not alone in our love for the principles that made our nation great. May God bless Charlie, his family, and our Nation as we honor his memory and continue his legacy.

STATEMENT ON THE CONFIRMATION OF JUSTICE JACKSON

Once again Republican voters from around the state were disappointed with the vote of Senator Mitt Romney ( ). Justice Jackson refused to articulate her judicial philosophy. She refused to comment on the dangerous idea of court packing. Most troubling, she refused to answer to her troubling record of under-sentencing child po*******hy cases. Senator Ted Cruz pointed out that in eight different cases she not only went under government recommendations, but even sentencing and prosecutor guidelines and recommendations. In the most troubling line of questioning, Senator Josh Hawley pressed Judge Jackson on her decision in US v. Hawkins. In this case Judge Jackson went under the recommended 2 years and gave them 3 months. This person had uploaded 5 child po*******hy videos to YouTube, and then uploaded 30+ photos to his ICloud account. After a search warrant was executed they found 17 videos of children, some very young, committing sexual acts. In this case Judge Jackson went under the guidelines of 10 years, the prosecutor wanted at least 2 years and instead Judge Jackson gave him 3 months. What’s more disturbing is she said that this case did not signal a “heinous or egregious child po*******hy offense.” When sentencing she even went as far to apologize for sentencing him to 3 months. For Senator Mitt Romney and other Republicans to join Democrats and voting for her to be on the highest bench in the country is disturbing and disgusting. We thank Senator Mike Lee for opposing this nominee and standing with the people of Utah.
