Sheriff Portman has asked that Holt County residents keep a close watch on their weather outlets. There is an elevated risk for the possibility of strong storms this evening.

A few severe thunderstorms are ongoing west and northwest of Topeka. These are slowly moving eastward, and will likely be making it into our region after 9 pm tonight.

Be aware of the strong possibility of severe weather this afternoon into the evening. 5/21/2024

It's been an active Spring. Another round of severe storms is expected this afternoon and evening. The main unknown, is how far east the cold front travels before storms fire up. Once they do, all hazard types are possible. Remain weather aware today, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
