Oregon Ohio Fire and Rescue Department

Oregon Ohio Fire and Rescue Department Founded in 1936 and officially formed in 1937 as the Oregon Township Fire Department. The department is led by a Full Time Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief.

Our department has advanced from volunteer/part-time to a combination of full-time/part-time professional firefighters and advanced care in Emergency Medical Services. Oregon Fire and Rescue operates out of 3 fire stations that are strategically located throughout the city to provide prompt fire and emergency medical response. Lucas County EMS' Life Squad 8 is housed at fire station #1 and it is o

ne of 10 Life Squads that provide ALS care to the citizens of Lucas County. 10 full time members staff the Life Squad to provide 24/7 coverage for Life Squad 8. 90 members (approximately 30 at each station) staff the 3 fire stations on a part-time on call status, and are dispatched by pager for any fire and emergency calls. Training is led by a full time District Chief of Training.

🚴‍♀️ What a great turnout! 🚴‍♂️

Thank you to all the students, parents, teachers, and volunteers who made Oregon Bike to School Day a huge success!
Seeing our community come together at Starr Elementary and Coy Elementary to promote active transportation and safer streets was truly inspiring.

Special thanks to the Oregon Ohio Police Division, Safe Kids Greater Toledo, The Bay City Bicycle Club and Lake Erie West Regional Council for helping make this event safe and fun for everyone. As you may see in our photos, our students traveled safely this morning with helmets on heads and multiple escorts to assist.

Couldn't make it this time? There's always next year! And we are looking forward to it. Let's keep the momentum going and continue building a bike-safe city!

Did you see Coy and Starr Elementary Students biking to school this morning? Safe Kids Greater Toledo provided free bike helmets to those who needed to ride safely. As children grow, adjustments will be required to provide a proper fit. This video provided by our partners at Safe Kids Greater Toledo can help caregivers verify the safest way to ride.

Learn how to fit your child's bike helmet in three easy steps. EYES. EARS. MOUTH.

Our application period has officially closed, and I want to take a moment to recognize a few important things.

First, thank you to our recruitment team. The time, energy, and professionalism you put into this process does not go unnoticed. You represent this department the right way, and it shows.

Second, to everyone who applied thank you. Putting your name in for this profession takes commitment, and we don’t take that lightly.

We are incredibly humbled by the response. A total of 36 applicants stepped forward with an interest in joining Oregon Fire & Rescue. That speaks volumes about the reputation of this department and the culture our members have built.

Our team will now begin the review process, and we will be in touch with all applicants soon regarding next steps.

Thank you again to everyone involved.
