After weeks of reading, discussing, and voting, Salmon Stream by Carol Reed-Jones has been selected by students as YES Charter Academy's Book of the Year!

Ms. Campbell and Ms. Ballester (4th and 5th Grade teachers) point to the wall display that Ms. Ballester created to track books as they "competed" with each other.

Salmon Stream won the students' hearts and is more than a brilliant book. It's a launchpad. Our students already work on real eco issues, and this summer we're channeling that energy into POLLUTION SOLUTIONS! — the exciting first Summer School session beginning Monday, June 15.
