Voters of Oregon House District 40 have spoken, and we respect and trust the democratic process.
The concerns raised during this campaign — and the perspectives of those who supported it — do not simply disappear because an election ends. Many people in our communities still feel unheard, unseen, or left at the edges of public life. The Democrats stand united in their core values, values that the majority share.
Michael Sugar is a bright young man, ran a great campaign and I believe he can succeed in building the bridges he spoke about throughout this campaign. I’m confident he’ll find ways to bring the voices of those living on the margins into the center of the conversation and into the work of governing. I called him and conceded. I told him he has my support and I hope that those who were with me through this campaign can lean in too.
Thank you to every person who volunteered, donated, encouraged, debated, questioned, and voted.

Tuesday, May 19th at 8:00 PM, the polls close for HD 40. Before the final votes are tallied, I want to take a moment to say the most important words of this entire campaign:
Thank you!

Whether you knocked on doors, made phone calls, chipped in financially, or simply talked to your neighbors, you built this movement. Campaigns are grueling, but your energy, passion, and belief in what HD 40 can achieve have kept us running strong every single day. Thanks especially to Anna, Collin, and Lisa.

Together we are crossing the finish line of the campaign trail—now it's up to the voters.
