Be their constant.

Children in foster care often face more change than most. A new school, a new home, sometimes a new caseworker. A CASA volunteer is frequently the one person who doesn’t change.

Join the Constant Circle and give that same steadiness, every month, all year. Monthly gifts help CASA of Clackamas County recruit, train, and support hundreds of volunteer advocates with confidence. Adjust or cancel any time.

Last Thursday, we gathered for our annual CASA volunteer picnic. ☀️ Being a CASA takes immense dedication, heart, and resilience. This picnic was a small way to say a massive THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers who show up every single day to advocate for children in our community. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to giving children a voice in court and in life. You are the heart of what we do.

A huge myth we hear is that you need a background in law, education, or social work to volunteer. The fact is, CASAs are everyday community members from all walks of life.

CASA provides comprehensive training before you start, and once you are assigned a case, you will have a dedicated staff manager guiding and supporting you every step of the way. You don’t need to know everything on day one and you are never alone in the process.

🌟 We are incredibly proud to spotlight our amazing Program Director, Dawn Cook! 🌟

Dawn was truly born to be an advocate. Her deep personal and professional experiences naturally paved the way to child advocacy and to CASA of Clackamas County, where she first began her journey as a volunteer CASA back in 2007.

Dawn’s dedication to our mission spans nearly two decades. She first joined us as a volunteer, stepped into a staff role as a CASA Manager in 2014, and spent twelve years supervising and supporting our incredible volunteers. This past January, Dawn officially stepped into her current role as Program Director! 🚀

"I am amazed by the caliber of humans I work with each day," Dawn shares. "I love my job and am honored to see the incredible work our amazing CASA volunteers do to support children and families in our community." 💙

When she isn't busy leading our program team and championing local youth, Dawn enjoys spending time with her two adult children and her beautiful grandson. You can also find her camping, hiking, reading, tackling house projects, or relaxing in front of the TV.

Thank you, Dawn, for your unwavering heart, leadership, and decades of advocacy! Clackamas County is a brighter place because of you. ✨

What is a CASA? 💙

When a child enters the foster care system due to abuse or neglect, their world is turned upside down. They navigate courtrooms, new schools, and changing foster homes.

That’s where a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) steps in. 🏛️

CASAs are everyday community volunteers who are appointed by a judge to look out for a child’s best interests. They get to know the child, gather information, and speak up for their specific needs in court.

While caseworkers and attorneys change, a CASA is often the one constant, stable adult in that child's life. 🌟
