The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District is a service district of Clackamas County government dedicated to providing park and recreation programs, facilities and services. The Parks District, is about 27 square miles in area, including Milwaukie and a large area of unincorporated Clackamas County, and serves over 105,000 residents.

Earlier today, elected officials from the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD), Metro, and the Oregon City School District (OCSD) came together to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new park in the Jennings Lodge area!

NCPRD and OCSD are cooperatively planning this exciting new park that will connect the community with nature and provide accessible play opportunities for all to enjoy. This project is made possible with grant funding from Metro and the Department of Land Conservation and Development.

We’re excited to share some big news!🎉

The Concord Community Center has been named a 2026 DeMuro Award winner by Restore Oregon, recognizing excellence in historic preservation and community impact.

The former 1936 Concord School once sat vacant and faced demolition. Today, the property is home to a vibrant community center, a fully accessible park, and the new Oak Lodge Library. We’re proud to have helped preserve this important piece of local history and transform the property into a welcoming place for the community to gather, connect, and thrive.

The Concord Community Center is one of nine historic projects across Oregon to receive the award, which is the state’s highest honor for the preservation, reuse and revitalization of architectural and cultural sites.

During construction at the historic Concord Elementary School, now the Concord Community Center, we made a wonderful discovery: the building’s original light shades had been tucked away under the stairs and sealed behind a wall.

To our delight, the shades were in decent condition, so we decided to give them a second life. We carefully moved them, had them professionally cleaned and restored, and returned them to their rightful home.

Today, they add a beautiful touch of historic charm and character to the hallway—and we’re so happy to see this little piece of Concord’s past shining once again.

We’re building a roadmap for a more connected community through a Trail Network Plan. This plan will be a guide for creating safe and accessible pathways that connect neighborhoods, parks, schools, natural areas, and local destinations throughout the district.

Get involved! This summer we’re collecting input on the project goals, types of trails you’d like to see in the community, where you’d most like to see those trails, and any challenges that you have on current trails.
