A big thank you to McLane Company, Inc. and Food Donation Connection for helping find a home for 28 pallets of bagged chicken!

Over the next several days, this donation will make its way to Gleaners members and some of our community partners throughout Clackamas County, helping families fill their freezers and enjoy nutritious meals at home.

As summer gets underway, we're excited to see this product put to good use around backyard BBQs, family dinners, and gatherings with friends.

How would you prepare your chicken? 🍗☀️

We're looking for volunteers!

Do you have a few hours each week to give back to your community?

Gleaners is currently seeking volunteers for two important roles:

🍽️ Kitchen Volunteer - Prepare and serve lunch for our volunteers and staff while helping create a welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

📞 Reception Volunteer - Help welcome visitors, answer phones, support our staff, and keep daily operations running smoothly.

Both roles play an important part in supporting the volunteers, members, and families we serve throughout Clackamas County. Interested? Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (503) 655-8740 to learn more.

Behind every food distribution, every Surplus Day, and every Resource Center shelf is a network of generous community donors.

Their donations help keep good food and usable products out of the landfill and into the hands of people who can use them.

To all of our donors and partners, thank you for helping us turn surplus into opportunity and community support.

The organizations pictured here represent just a portion of the many donors who support Gleaners throughout the year. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

Meet Gary

Gary isn't a Gleaners member, he's one of our dedicated community volunteers.

For many years, he has spent two days each week volunteering as a forklift driver, helping keep product moving through our warehouse and into the hands of those who need it. Like so many of our volunteers, Gary gives his time simply because he wants to make a difference in his community.

You don't have to be a member to volunteer, and you can get involved as an individual or as part of a group.

Interested in lending a hand? Fill out a Volunteer Interest Form on our website or call our Volunteer Coordinator at (503) 655-8740.

Every Gleaner member belongs to a team and those teams are at the heart of what makes our program so special!

With 42 teams across Clackamas County, including as far out as Welches, members connect with others in their community while participating in the program. Each team has its own pick-up day and time, including evening and Saturday options to help accommodate working families.

Food may bring us together, but it's the friendships, support, and sense of community that keep us connected.

Mary and Kathy have been part of the Gleaners family for decades serving an incredible 48 and 41 years. Together, that’s more than 90 years of showing up for their community.

Over the years, they’ve built friendships, shared countless meals and memories, and helped make Gleaners what it is today. Their dedication and willingness to serve are such a special part of our community.

Thank you both for all the years you’ve poured into Gleaners!

Our Resource Center got a little extra love last Friday 💚

The students and adults from North Clackamas Christian School spent the day weeding, mulching, raking, and helping refresh our outdoor spaces. Their hard work helped make everything feel more welcoming and cared for.

Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us, we’re so grateful for your service!

There’s more to being a Gleaner than receiving food each week 🌱

Members also have access to our Resource Center, seasonal events, Surplus Days, and other community resources designed to help support families beyond the grocery box.

Respect is one of Gleaners’ core values.

It means treating everyone with dignity and embracing the diversity of the communities we serve. Whether it’s welcoming a new member, working alongside volunteers, or partnering with others, respect is at the heart of every interaction.

This is what respect looks like at Gleaners, creating a space where everyone feels valued, seen, and included.
