Patterson Road Elementary student council leaders Harrison, Abram, Allison, Luke, Landon, Marcus, and Alyssa delivered an outstanding presentation at the recent board meeting.

Guided by advisors Mrs. Lear and Mrs. Cerrillo, these student leaders highlighted how they are put Panther PRIDE into action through campus attendance incentives and upcoming events like Trunk or Treat.

They ended their presentation with a student-created stop-motion video that brought plenty of smiles to the room.

The Award honors staff members who embody dedication, heart, and excellence across our district.

This amazing team goes above and beyond every day by coaching teachers in behavior techniques and by building strong, positive relationships that help our kids thrive!

Some history lessons are read in a textbook. Others are lived on the open seas alongside classmates!

Ms. Brannon and Ms. Salguero recently led their Ralph Dunlap Elementary 4th graders on an open ocean voyage with the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum Tall Ship program. Students stepped into the shoes of merchant sailors from the 1800s as they took on real-time crew challenges that tested their communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

To top off an incredible day of high-seas learning, a special visitor joined their voyage: a pod of dolphins—Ralph Dunlap’s very own school mascot—swam right alongside the ship!

Orcutt Union School District’s Convocation 2026 kicked off with unforgettable back-to-school advice from student experts Finnley, Isaac, Ophelia, and Brooklyn! Uniting our OUSD family—representing 650 dedicated teachers, support staff, and administrators—employees heard inspiring messages from Board President Melanie Waffle, OEA President Monique Segura, CSEA President Shirley Juarez, and Superintendent Dr. Holly Edds. Together, we were grounded in a powerful reminder that every child arrives with their own unique story, and helping them thrive takes all of us working as one team. We are ready for an incredible 2026–2027 school year!
