It’s official! After months of interviews, considering, and discussing, the Town Board has come to a decision. Our department has a new Chief of Police.

Last night the Town Board passed a resolution to appoint Brendon O’Hara to the position of Chief of Police. He’ll start in a few short weeks.

O’Hara comes to us from the East Aurora Police Department, where he has been a Lieutenant for almost seven years. He’s a decorated officer and has been the #2 man over there for quite some time, serving under the respected Chief Welch. While we apologize to the citizens of East Aurora for poaching O’Hara, we’re excited for our residents and our department as we are gaining an experienced man for this job.

Help us congratulate Chief O’Hara! We looked forward to continuing to build a trusted and professional department with his leadership.

This adorable little guy was found on Armor Duells Road this weekend and brought to our station. He is not chipped and was not wearing a collar. At this time, he is not up for adoption, we are hoping to find his family. If you know who he belongs to please contact Animal Control at 716-662-6440 during business hours, or call the police department at 716-662-6444.

Drivers will see more law enforcement on the road from May 18 –May 31 as part of the National Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign.

One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up. Buckle up all the time for short trips and long trips, and in every seating position.

Public Safety Dispatcher Tara Scolese is out the door! She has dedicated more than seven years of her life dispatching police, fire, and ems personnel to thousands of incidents.

Our officers relied on Scolese for her unique ability to calm citizens down on the phone, and gather as much information as possible before police arrived to a scene. Her partners in the dispatch center always knew she had control of the resources and personnel she was sending in different directions.

Public Safety Dispatcher Scolese’s passion specified in helping others; the public and first responders, as she is a counselor and mentor with the 24/7 Law Enforcement Helpline, a service organized to assist first responders in times of crisis.

She has the life of retirement planned, and is going south. Here’s to no more winter storms for PSD Scolese, badge # 137!
