🚨 SCAM ATTEMPT 🚨

Orchard Lake and Keego Harbor officers assisted a citizen earlier today who was on the phone with scammers repeatedly identifying themselves as police officers.

The potential victim withdrew cash from her bank account and was instructed to deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM before becoming suspicious and calling us.

Fortunately, officers were able to intervene before the deposit was made.

What makes this case especially concerning is that the scammer(s) used spoofed non-emergency phone numbers for both the Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield Police Departments, making the calls appear legitimate.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money:

❌ Hang up immediately
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information
❌ Do not withdraw or transfer money

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone.

Great reminders from our friends at the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Please help us prevent our community from being victimized!

🚨 Community Alert: Increase in Vehicle Thefts & Larceny from Autos 🚨

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a recent increase in vehicle thefts and larceny from automobiles across our communities. As an example, the City of Rochester Hills has experienced 17 stolen automobiles and 20 incidents of larceny from vehicles so far this year alone. In all 20 of the larceny from auto cases the vehicles were left unlocked or contained valuables in plain sight, making them easy targets for opportunistic thieves. In 12 of the stolen auto cases, key fobs were left inside unlocked vehicles. Your awareness and vigilance are key in helping us reduce these crimes and protect our neighborhoods.
