You’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with—and no truer words were ever spoken!

One of our best decisions was asking Kathleen Murphy to join us on Thursday nights as we planned Orangetown USA250. From a Gala in January, to the Emerald Ball in February, the Friendly Sons event in March, the Recognition Ceremony in April and everything in between, Kat came through every single time.

Flyers, Google forms, Airtables, design work, and the crème de la crème—the Keepsake Journal—Kat Murphy did not disappoint.

If you ever need design work, please consider Kat Murphy Consulting. She comes highly recommended!

Yesterday, our community came together for a once-in-a-generation celebration as we marked America’s 250th birthday!

From the incredible morning with the Knights of Columbus and the reading of The Declaration of Independence, the parade kicking off at William O. Schaefer Elementary and marching down Independence Ave, to the massive festival at German Masonic Park, the energy in Tappan was unmatched.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the Orangetown USA250 Parade and Festival such a massive success! We ate great food from the local trucks, danced to live music from Joe D'Urso & Stone Caravan, The Georgia 5: 80’s Dance Party and 8th Grade Science (despite the heat) and loved seeing so many families, Little Leaguers, and local organizations marching proud.

Orangetown is truly "Rich in History," and yesterday we made some history of our own! ❤️🤍💙

Drop your favorite photos from the parade and festival in the comments below!

AND…if anyone has video of the flyover, please post it as well. A massive thank you to Col. Frank Farrelly for looking after his hometown of Orangetown!

This is it folks! We are nearly across the finish line and the Orangetown USA250 Parade and Celebration can not wait to celebrate the 4th of July with all of you!
On our committee we have a Pastor and a Priest. Both were asked early on the pray for no rain! Well - mission accomplished! If we had known about the excessive heat, we may have included that in our prayers!

Precautions we are asking for on the day:

* Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to stay cooler in the sun.
* Stay hydrated. Bring a bottle of water and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. We will have a few water drums set-up at the start of the parade and will bring down to the Masonic grounds. So please - refill accordingly.
* We will also have available a limited amount of bottled water. We ask that you re-use the bottle throughout the day.
* Seek shade whenever possible, especially during the hottest part of the day.
* Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
* Take breaks if you begin to feel overheated or fatigued.
* Check on children, older adults, and anyone who may be more sensitive to the heat.

We are a committee of approximately 40 people who have worked for the past 18 years to celebrate America's 250th Birthday in style! I hope we don't disappoint.

Recap:

9:00 AM - The reading of The Declaration of Independence
10:00 AM - The Parade steps off
11:30 AM - Everyone should be on the festival grounds
11:45 AM - A brief ceremony. MC is John McGowan

The Orangetown USA250 Committee extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who is helping us make this once-in-a-lifetime event such a tremendous success.

To our honorees, volunteers, sponsors, donors, parade participants, performers, vendors, first responders, highway crews, community organizations, elected officials, and the thousands of residents and visitors who will be joining us—thank you. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and community spirit are the reason why we have gotten this far.

A special thank you goes to our Grand Marshal, Battalion Commanders, Aides to the Grand Marshal, and all of those who will be recognized for their lifetime of service to Orangetown. Your dedication to our community embodies the values of patriotism, volunteerism, and civic pride that we will celebrate throughout the day.

Events of this magnitude are only possible because of the countless individuals who have worked behind the scenes for many months. We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave their time, talents, and support to honor America's Semiquincentennial and showcase the very best of Orangetown.

See you on the avenue!
