As we begin another Hurricane season, your DPU staff will closely monitor the tropics for any indication of an impending storm. Hurricanes are some of the most destructive weather events we see and our system is very exposed during these times. Our team consistently evaluates our lines to try and solve problems before they happen. With a budget in excess of $1M, our vegetation management team provides protection from falling trees and overhanging limbs. This work is critical in reducing outages. You can be confident that if a storm impacts our area, the DPU will be ready to respond to restore any outages.

This announcement is the culmination of over 2 years of discussions with the Ferrara team. Your DPU was involved in this from day one, looking to bring this transformational company to Orangeburg. Through the efforts of all DPU Divisions, as well as General Manager Harley, we are proud to be partners with the "sweetest" candy company in the world!

We certainly appreciate everyone's patience as we complete the necessary testing of the water samples in the area of the broken 12" water main. This was a large outage that had an impact on more than 2000 of our customers. Our crews worked throughout the night to replace a large section of the main. Per regulation, since the water pressure fell below safe standards, we issued a boil water advisory. Once repaired and flushed, our team take samples which can take up to and beyond 24 hours to process. Once the all clear is given, we post our repeal notice on social media, radio and newspaper outlets. We are pleased to be using a new notification system called Everbridge. This allows us to immediately notify our customers about important utility information. But it is only as good as the contact information on your account. Via text, phone and email, this system efficiently contacts each person in the effected area. Please take a moment to visit our customer portal at www.orbgdpu.com and update your contact information.

Get up to $250 in rebates replacing electric appliances with Natural Gas or converting existing gas appliances from propane to Natural Gas.
