Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced three subjects have been charged in a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this week.
"There is absolutely no sense in this," the sheriff said. "These people must live in a fairytale world if they think there are no consequences for taking a man's life."
Ravenell said 40-year-old Ivy Banks; 38-year-old David Jones; and 33-year-old Hector Vallejo, all of Orangeburg, have each been charged with murder, first-degree burglary, and criminal conspiracy.
Jones and Vallejo have been further charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Those charges stem from a fatal shooting early Tuesday.
Orangeburg County Sheriff's investigators were called out around 2 a.m. after a report of a gunshot on Seawright Street.
Investigators located a male at a residence who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as a 41-year-old Orangeburg man.
The subjects were formally presented their rights during a hearing on Friday.

The OCSO held its inaugural appreciation day for women in law enforcement! In recognition of National Police Woman's Day, the sworn women of the OCSO were brought together for camaraderie and to be recognized for their services to the agency and community!

With heavy hearts, Sheriff Ravenell and the OCSO mourn the passing of Charleston County Sheriff's 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬, who was killed in a vehicle crash on Wednesday. We pray for our brothers and sisters at CCSO and for Hendricks' family.

Many, many thanks to the Ferrara Candy Company for the awesome candy box dropped off at the OCSO! The Ferrara representatives made a stop by the complex on Wednesday to make the special delivery.
