This week, Governor Henry McMaster ceremonially signed H.3034 known as. "Fargo's, Hyco's, Rico's, Coba's, Wick's, Mikka's, and Bumi's Law" is landmark legislation strengthening protections for law enforcement K-9s and horses across South Carolina. The bill, named in honor of seven police K-9s who gave their lives in the line of duty, beginning with Fargo, the first South Carolina K-9 killed in service back in 2011, sends a clear message: harming a police animal carries serious consequences. Members of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit had the opportunity to attend and witness this momentous occasion.
Our K-9s aren't just animals; they're partners, protectors, and members of our family. They put on the vest, climb into the car, and run toward danger right alongside their handlers.
We're grateful to the lawmakers, handlers, and families who fought for years to make this happen.

Many, many thanks to 17-month-old Presley Williams and her family for Friday's donation of stuffed animals. The boxes delivered can be used to comfort a child encountered during a traumatic incident. There are often peripheral victims of incidents to which we respond as well. In the Book of Mark it mentions giving a cup of water in His name. A lot of cups of water were given today. Thank you so much!

Last of the lime. For a time. Save that lime green for next year. And between now and then, keep mental health awareness in your thoughts. It is a serious issue. Have a blessed day and remember those dealing with this issue.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that a Bowman male has been taken into custody in reference to a drive-by shooting.
“This individual didn’t have an ounce of concern for anyone in or even near this home,” the sheriff said. “One of those who was inside was a six-month-old infant.”
Ravenell said 24-year-old Jaylen Staley has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and one count of discharging a weapon into a dwelling.
The charges stem from an incident in which a Norway Road residence was fired on from a vehicle that had come to a stop in front of the home.
The home was occupied by four people at the time of the shooting around 4:45 p.m. on April 25.
Staley was taken into custody Wednesday morning at an Orangeburg residence by officers with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, Orangeburg Department of Public Safety, the US Marshals Service, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
