Family Assistance Resource Center of NJ

Family Assistance Resource Center of NJ FARCNJ offers programs & services that address the critical needs of families & individuals in crisi FARC recognizes that not all families in need are homeless.

Conceived and founded in the wake of a 2010 fire that left over one hundred families homeless, the Family Assistance Resource Center provides emergency clothing, footwear, toiletries and other essential items to assist victims of fire, flooding, storm damage and other disasters in their time of need. Executive Director Roger Hinton puts it this way, “Our mission is to offer the vital support that

will strengthen and empower those we serve to live sustainable and independent lives." FARC offers programs and services that address the critical needs of families and individuals in crisis. Through these programs, clients have access to clothing, footwear, furniture, household goods, bed and bath linens, food, and housing resources assistance. We serve fire and natural disaster victims, senior citizens, veterans, families transitioning from homelessness, those re-entering society, and students. Our experience in working in the communities we serve, is that families and single unemployed individuals, are struggling to make ends meet and to remain afloat as the economy slowly recovers. These families need the assistance of food, clothing, replacement furniture and other basic living necessities. FARC is a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization, supported by individuals who support our mission. All donations to FARC are tax deductible. The Family Assistance Resource Center NJ is governed by a board of trustees with over thirty years of non-profit management, board governance and business experience.

Donald Parrott passed away on Sunday morning January 26, 2025.
Don Parrott touched so many lives during his time with the Family Assistance Resource Center NJ (FARC).
He touched so many lives through his commitment to being there...in the moments when fire victims emerge out of a fire.
During his years with FARC, Don helped to collect and deliver furniture, appliances, clothing, footwear, children's toys and books, and food, to those who lost everything they owned.

He was a man of faith who spent time in prayer and the study of the Word. He also was a great listener and only offered advice based on God's Word.

Don was a former member of Evangel Church in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He was a member of the church's Singles Ministry, the Getting to Know You ministry, the Men's ministry, and the Food Pantry and Homeless Ourreach Ministry.

His one fault, was his total devotion to the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Mets! Other than that...he was alright!

Don will be truly missed but his indomitable spirit will live on through those who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him for the very special gift that the Lord sent into our lives. May He rest in peace and may his good deed follow him.
