IMPORTANT Information Regarding the 2026 Preliminary Appraised Values
Please share this post to help answer some of the frequently asked questions the Tax Office receives during this time of year.
1. The Orange County Appraisal District sets the values and sends out the preliminary value letters every year in April. Please contact the appraisal district at (409) 745-4777 for all questions regarding values, exemptions, ownership, and how to protest.
2. If you did not receive a letter, please visit the appraisal district's website at orangecad.net. There, you can see your value for 2026. **Please verify that your mailing address is correct. If your mailing address is not correct, please contact the appraisal district.** This will help when certified bills are mailed out in October/November.
3. The last day to protest the 2026 value is May 15, 2026. Visit the CADs website or call their office 409-745-4777 for help on how to start the process of protesting.
4. If you recently bought or sold a property, the ownership information may not have been updated on the tax roll. Ownership is based on the information the appraisal district has as of January 1. Please contact the appraisal district to update their records.
