CASA of Orange County - Court Appointed Special Advocates

CASA of Orange County - Court Appointed Special Advocates Volunteers building connections for youth in the child welfare system. Become a CASA. Change a life. Change a Child's Story.™

CASA provides a powerful voice and a meaningful connection for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Court Appointed Special Advocates are trained volunteers who develop a consistent one-on-one relationship with their child, often becoming the most important person in the child's life. This commitment enables our advocates to interact with all professionals involved in the

child’s case and make recommendations directly to the court, ensuring the child’s best interests are heard.

Today, we honor Juneteenth ❤️ 💛 💚 🖤! A celebration of freedom, resilience, and the continued pursuit of equality for all.

As Michelle Obama shared, “We understand that we all rise and fall together, that every last one of us is an invaluable contributor to the greatness of America.”

Juneteenth reminds us to reflect on our history, celebrate Black excellence, and recommit ourselves to building communities where every person is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

We believe our GEMs are priceless, but don’t take our word for it. Listen to an expert! 💎

Paul Tacorian, Chairman and CEO of TACORI, is a 3rd generation jeweler who knows the value of a precious gem. As a current member of the CASA OC Board of Directors and a former CASA volunteer, he has witnessed the impact that consistent support can have on a child’s future.

That’s why TACORI is proud to match every new GEM (Give Every Month) commitment made during the month of June, dollar-for-dollar. Your monthly gift provides the steady, reliable funding that helps CASA OC recruit, train, and support CASA volunteers year-round, ensuring more youth in foster care have a dedicated advocate by their side.

Every child deserves to know their worth and shine. Join our GEM community today, starting at just $10 a month, and Tacori will double your gift to make twice the impact now through the end of June.

Behind every CASA volunteer is a team making sure they never stand alone, and behind that team are our GEMs.

Our Advocate Supervisor, Bianca Gonzalez, shares what happens when we invest in the people showing up for youth in foster care. When our volunteers are supported, our youth thrive. It’s that simple.

Educational opportunities. Stability. Hope. These outcomes don’t happen by accident; they happen because people like you choose to show up, month after month. Your monthly gift as a GEM helps sustain the support system behind every CASA volunteer, and every child counting on them. 💎

Become a GEM this June and help us keep showing up. Every new GEM is matched dollar-for-dollar by Tacori through June 30. 🔗 www.casaoc.org/gem

Please join us in celebrating Darla Holland, CASA OC’s June Advocate of the Month! 💙

Darla brings compassion, patience, and unwavering dedication to her role as a CASA volunteer, showing up consistently for the youth she serves and helping ensure they have a trusted adult in their corner.
As Darla reflects:
“In medicine, things happen quickly. You identify a problem and work toward a solution. As a CASA, the timelines are very different. My problem-solving skills are helpful, but I’ve learned there can be no expectation beyond just showing up.”
That simple yet powerful commitment, to keep showing up, can make all the difference in the life of a child or young adult experiencing foster care.

Thank you, Darla, for your advocacy, heart, and dedication to helping youth feel seen, heard, and supported. 💙

💙 A CASA volunteer can be the one constant in a child’s life, but first, we have to find them.

Our Recruitment Manager, Norma Mendoza, shares why recruiting more volunteers is so important to CASA OC. From community events to speaking engagements, our team shows up everywhere because somewhere out there is the right person for every child waiting on our list.

That’s where our GEMs come in. 💎 Your monthly gift fuels the search. Making it possible for our recruitment team to keep showing up, keep talking, and keep finding the caring adults our kids deserve. Every child in foster care needs a constant. Help us find theirs, and learn how you can help a child shine by becoming a GEM.

What a wonderful day of connection, confidence-building, and fun! 💙

This past Saturday, CASA advocates and the youth they support enjoyed a special Shop with a Cop experience at Sports Basement, giving youth the opportunity to shop alongside members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and spend quality time with trusted adults who care about their success.

After shopping, everyone gathered to enjoy a delicious lunch generously provided by Wahoo’s Fish Taco, making the day even more memorable. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners for making this experience possible:

💙 Sports Basement (special shout-out to Kristen Verdoia & Annabelle Duneau)
💙 Orange County Sheriff’s Department (special shout-out to Gail Krause, Community Relations Manager)
💙 Wahoo’s Fish Taco

Together, experiences like these help create lasting memories, build meaningful relationships, and remind youth that their community is invested in them.

Please join us in welcoming our Summer intern, Ward Jackson, to CASA OC! 💙

Ward is spending his summer with us as a Brand Department Intern and will be supporting a variety of projects through mid-August as he heads into his sophomore year at SMU.

What makes this opportunity especially meaningful is that Ward is a former member of Kids for CASA, making his return to CASA OC a full-circle moment. We are excited to help him build new skills, gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector, and deepen his understanding of the important work being done to support youth experiencing foster care.

At CASA OC, we believe internships are more than résumé builders; they are opportunities to mentor future leaders, foster professional growth, and inspire the next generation of community changemakers.

Welcome to the team, Ward! We’re glad you’re here.
