The Orange County Office on Youth is now accepting applications from local students in grades 6-11 to join the Youth Council for the 2026-27 school year! The Youth Council is a group of driven young citizens that engage with local and state elected officials, learn about government and public service, and support the community through various service projects.

The Office on Youth will be hosting a 24:7 Dad parenting class on Monday nights in October with our amazing facilitators, L. J. Taylor and Chris Locker.

Sessions will be held at Orange Baptist Church and will include dinner starting at 6:00 PM, with sessions starting around 6:30 PM. A $10 gas card for each dad will be provided on each night of participation.

Childcare will be provided for free for children who are potty trained and they will also be provided dinner.

Please be aware that Orange County Government facilities will be closed TODAY, Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Closed offices will resume normal operating hours TOMORROW, Tuesday, September 8, 2026. For more information and a listing of other upcoming holidays, view the Orange County holiday schedule at https://ow.ly/QHnj50ZHkVi.

In accordance with additional state holiday hours granted by the Governor’s Office, the Orange County Board of Supervisors has authorized the closure of Orange County offices at noon (12:00 p.m.) on Friday, September 4, 2026. Please note the exception that the Landfill and Collection Sites will remain open according to their usual schedules.

Orange County Libraries will additionally be closed on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in accordance with Library Board policy.

As previously scheduled, offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, for Labor Day. The Monday closure does include the Landfill & Collection Sites. Closed offices will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Welcome to September — and welcome to Recovery Month. 💜

This month, we honor every pathway to recovery and remind our community that everyone deserves care, dignity, connection, and hope.

We also remember those we’ve lost to overdose and substance use disorder while continuing to fight fiercely for those who are still here. 💜

Our Community Memorial Mural from this year’s Overdose Awareness Vigil is now displayed in the front entrance of the Orange County Public Safety Building. Throughout September, we invite you to help it grow. 🌸

Honor someone you’ve lost by adding their name to a flower, or share a message of hope for someone in recovery, someone struggling, or anyone who needs a reminder that their life matters.
