Throughout the town, many of our commercial building are equipped with outside key vaults, otherwise known as Knox boxes. They are secure boxes that are only accessible by emergency response personnel to allow entry in the event of an emergency, lessening the likelihood of damage from forcible entry. These boxes are extremely secure and inaccessible without the access key.

Lately, the fire department has been noticing that the keys provided by the businesses to be secured in the Knox Box are not working on the locks. This could be because of a change in management and the locks were changed, or the locks were changed due to new ownership.

If you have a Knox Box on your building, and you aren’t sure if the keys are current, call our office and we will meet you at your key vault to check the keys and ensure they work. We rather take 5 minutes to make sure they work, than cause avoidable damage.

Call our office at (203) 891-4711 to schedule an appointment.

Today, it wasn’t “goodbye” but more like “see you later” with our Amity High School intern, John Mizzone. John was with our office for a little more than three weeks and learned a lot about what our office does. John’s mentor, Fire Inspector Joe Taylor kept him busy making sure he got to experience all aspects of our job, including code plan reviews, site inspections, and even a few fire calls and vehicle accidents. In the short time John was with our office, he proved himself to be an intelligent and polite young man with a very bright future ahead.

Please join us in wishing Mr. Mizzone well. I’m sure it’s not the last you’ll hear of him!

When our staff takes our lunch break, we always like to support our local Orange businesses. But today, we ventured into Milford to pick up our lunch at Jersey Mike’s Subs.
