A traffic reminder—This is a picture of a Two-Way Left-Turn Only Lane. Examples of improper use:

—Moving to it, stopping, and waiting for a chance to merge into traffic
—Moving to it and accelerating to merge into traffic
—Using it to pass cars ahead of you to eventually make a left turn

Have a safe day.

Orange County is hosting a multi-day Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) event on May 2, 5, 7, and 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The GLO is partnering with Orange County and Texas Parks and Wildlife to host this free event for Orange County residents to dispose of inoperable and derelict vessels.

VTIP provides owners with a free and voluntary method to dispose of their vessels and boats and keep them from becoming environmental or safety hazards.

Proud to be in this group for this photo a few years ago. I’ll always be impressed that Air Med was actually photographed—and not photoshopped.

🚨 Public Notification System Test – April 2, 2026 🚨

The Texas Department of Emergency Management will be conducting a statewide Public Warning System test on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at approximately 10:35 am.

As part of this drill, Orange County will send a TEST message through STAN (Southeast Texas Alerting Network). STAN is a regional notification system used by emergency management officials to quickly share important information about emergencies, weather events, and other critical situations in Southeast Texas.

During the test, you may receive:
• A text message
• An email notification
• A phone call

⚠️THIS IS ONLY A TEST⚠️

The purpose of this exercise is to ensure the system is working properly and ready to keep our community informed in the event of a real emergency. This is part of a statewide test of multiple alerting networks, intended to evaluate performance during high-volume usage between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. Orange County is scheduled to receive notifications at approximately 10:35 am.

We appreciate your patience and participation as we conduct this important test of the Southeast Texas Alerting Network.

If you would like to receive notifications, you can sign up at: www.thestan.com
