Bill Lewis from the Television Sports Broadcast team briefed the club on what is required to hold a sports broadcast of that magnitude. From the Wednesday initial set up to the Saturday complete dry run from the 62 cameras to the overhead sky Cam set up. Most were very tired after the brief but again, I’m sure that all who were there were amazed at the depth, coordination, and the number of people required.

WHO SHOT THE SHERIFF? ACTUALLY, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT

We welcomed Bob Scallon, our local Clay County Historian, who shared a fascinating and entertaining look into the early days of Clay County. He highlighted several key figures who helped shape the county, from its founder to the first sheriff who was accidentally shot. The sheriff later explained to the judge that the shooting truly was an accident, which seemed to help quite a bit during sentencing.

Thank you to Bob for bringing our local history to life and giving us such an engaging program.

We are incredibly proud to share that the 2026 Al Watson “Quiet Hero” Memorial Award has been awarded to someone who represents the very best of our club, 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀!

This district award honors a Rotarian whose steady, humble service has made a lasting impact over many years. With 78 clubs able to nominate just one member, it is one of the most meaningful recognitions in Rotary District 6970.

Gordon, you never seek the spotlight, but your dedication is felt in everything you do. It’s an honor to serve alongside you!
