June 8, 2026 Update from Town of Orange Park Public Works Department
As part of our ongoing commitment to water quality and our proactive investigation into localized odor complaints, the Public Works Department conducted targeted testing late last week.
Friday Testing Results
On Friday, June 5, 2026, Public Works crews flushed three key fire hydrants (FH 41, 42, and 43) located on the north side of Holly Point Rd E.
While flushing, technicians conducted precise testing for residual chlorine at each location. Residual chlorine readings were found to be right at the top of the ideal operational range of 4.0 mg/L, which aligns perfectly with regulatory standards.
Odor Assessment: No odor was detected at any of the three hydrants during the flushing process.
What This Means for Residents
These results conclusively demonstrate that the Town’s main water supply lines carry strong, healthy residual chlorine levels that meet all safety and regulatory requirements. Because the water main itself is clean and free of odor, it further confirms that the issue is highly localized to specific service lines rather than a wider distribution system problem.
Next Steps
The Town will continue executing the diagnostic plan previously outlined—including the targeted replacement and testing of specific public service lines and meters—to isolate and eliminate the root cause of the local odor.
We appreciate the neighborhood's continued patience and cooperation as we work through this process. Further updates will be provided as our field investigation progresses.
Our Utilities Department is actively investigating recent water odor reports for residences on and around Holly Point Road E. Some underlying issues involve aging infrastructure and operational improvements that cannot be resolved immediately, but the Town is working hard on both short-term mitigation and long-term solutions.
🛑 Is the investigation ongoing? Yes. Staff and technicians are conducting testing, inspections, and operational adjustments in the Holly Point Road E area. Because of this, we don’t have a definitive timeline for a full resolution just yet, but please know this is a top priority.
