The Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department is proud and grateful to announce that we have been awarded the 2026 Emergency Responder Health & Wellness Grant, made possible by VFIS of Texas and Texas Mutual Insurance Company!
This generous grant will allow our department to purchase critical health and wellness equipment, including portable decontamination units. These units will help reduce the transfer of carcinogens and harmful contaminants from emergency scenes back to our apparatus and station—protecting our firefighters from long-term exposure risks.
The safety and well-being of our members is a top priority, and this funding plays a vital role in ensuring we can continue serving our community while also protecting those who serve.
We sincerely thank VFIS of Texas and Texas Mutual Insurance Company for their commitment to the health and safety of emergency responders.

Congrats to the 109 Texas fire departments that received funding from the 2026 Emergency Responder Health & Wellness Grant, made possible by VFIS of Texas and Texas Mutual Insurance Company!! They will receive a combined $427,129 to support critical wellness programs for front line emergency responders.
It was a record-breaking year: more than 280 applications requesting more than $1 million - clearly the need exists, and highlights the importance of resources to these departments.
While not all applications could be funded, departments are encouraged to reapply this fall.
