The National Hurricane Center has begun issuing advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone One. PTC One is forecast to become a tropical storm as it moves along or just off the northwestern Gulf coast through Wednesday. Impacts would be short lived and below Tropical Storm criteria along our coast.

Our messaging remains the same; periods of intense rainfall through the rest of today/tonight could produce widespread flooding. Gusty winds and coastal flooding are also likely.

The National Hurricane Center has highlighted an area over the western Gulf with 50% chance of development in the next 7 days. Regardless of tropical cyclone formation, our messaging remains the same; periods of intense rainfall over the next several days could produce widespread flooding. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Wet Week Ahead ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi continues the FLOOD WATCH through Tuesday evening. Forecast rainfall amounts for the Orange Grove area through Friday are 2-6". Storms have the possibility of producing heavy downpours of 1-3" per hour.

The Weather Prediction Center continues their Moderate Risk (3 of 4) of flash flooding for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is forecast to be a Marginal Risk (1 of 4), Thursday no risk, Friday with a Slight Risk (2 of 4).

Residents are urged to remain weather aware. Use caution when driving, and remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.

๐Ÿ“ข Self-Fill Sandbag Distribution Begins Today ๐Ÿ“ข

The City of Orange Grove will provide self-fill sandbags for Orange Grove residents beginning today through Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

๐Ÿ“ Location: Across from City Hall, 310 W. Pundt Ave
โฐ Time: 8am-5pm (Mon-Wed)
๐Ÿ‘œ Limit: 6 sandbags per household

Residents must check in at City Hall to receive sandbags and provide proof of residency with a valid photo ID or City water bill.

We encourage residents to keep their sandbags for the remainder of hurricane season so they are ready if needed later.

Need assistance filling sandbags? Help is available by request.

Please remember that sandbags provide limited flood protection and should be used as part of your overall storm preparedness plan.

The Weather Prediction Center has increased the Excessive Rainfall Outlook for Monday to a Moderate Risk (level 3 of 4). Tuesday remains the same with a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) for flash flooding. Most likely rainfall amounts through Friday is 2-6".

A FLOOD WATCH is now in effect for South Texas until Wednesday evening (see previous post).

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a FLOOD WATCH for South Texas from 7PM tonight through Wednesday evening 6/17/26. The combination of a moist tropical airmass, a stalling front, daily seabreeze circulations, and a broad area of low pressure over northeastern Mexico will result in heavy rain.

Isolated pockets with rain totals of 8 inches or more are possible with rain rates that could exceed 2 inches per hour at times.

A tropical plume of moisture will continue to keep chances of rain through mid-week, with Monday into Tuesday being the period with the greatest risk of flash flooding (WPC has highlighted the region under a Slight (level 2 of 4) risk).

A secondary break has occurred in the same area. Crews have lowered water pressure to make the repair. Estimated restoration is 45 minutes.

Water leak has been repaired. Water service is being restored to normal pressure.
