Recently we had the pleasure of hosting the Orange County Grand Jury for a tour and demonstration of our K9 Field.

It is with profound sadness that the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announces the passing of K9 Kane, a loyal partner, dedicated protector, and cherished member of our law enforcement family.

From 2021 to 2026, K9 Kane faithfully served the citizens of Orange County with unwavering courage, professionalism, and heart. Throughout his career, he stood beside his handlers, Deputy Malkov and Reserve Lieutenant Klappenback, forming partnerships built on trust, dedication, and an unbreakable bond.

K9 Kane was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Despite the excellent medical care he received, he did not win the fight.

Please join us in honoring K9 Kane’s extraordinary service and remembering the impact he made on our department and our community.
