• Monitor bank accounts and credit reports regularly.
• Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication.

Phone Scams
• Be cautious of callers claiming to be from government agencies, banks or utility companies demanding immediate payment.
• Hang up and contact the organization directly using a verified phone number.

Small Business Scams
• Verify invoices, vendor requests and payment changes before sending money.
• Confirm requests through a known contact before processing payments.

Gift Card Scams
• Legitimate businesses and government agencies will never request payment by gift card.
• Never purchase gift cards to pay bills, fines or fees.

AI Voice Cloning Scams
• If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a family member or friend in distress, remain calm.
• Hang up and contact the person directly using a trusted phone number.
• Consider establishing a family safe word to verify emergencies.

The Orange City Police Department continues focusing on professionalism, accountability and training under the leadership of Police Chief Jerome Miller.

During his first quarter as Chief, OCPD reduced vacancies from nine to three, focused on recruiting experienced officers and conducted agency-wide de-escalation training. The department is also continuing to review policies and preparing for training on how to interact with individuals on the autism spectrum.

As OCPD continues moving forward, the department remains focused on recruitment, training and transparency while maintaining a proactive approach to public safety.
