đź’§ HELP US CONSERVE WATERđź’§
With below-freezing temperatures, LBWS is asking customers to help conserve water and protect the system so service can remain available for everyone.
Instead of letting faucets run, we encourage the following water-saving steps to help prevent frozen pipes and unnecessary strain on the system:
đź”’ Shut off your water at the meter (customer-side valve)
Turning the water off at the source and draining your pipes is one of the most effective ways to protect your plumbing during extreme cold.
🧊 Drain your pipes
Open the lowest exterior faucet on your home to allow water to drain from the lines.
🚪 Open cabinets under sinks
This allows warmer air to circulate around plumbing inside your home.
🔍 Check for leaks after temperatures rise
Freezing and thawing can cause pipes to shift or crack, so please inspect your property carefully once conditions improve.
🧯 Know where your shut-off valve is located
Being able to turn off water quickly can help minimize damage and conserve water if a leak occurs.
⚠️ Why this matters:
During winter weather, water systems across the state experience increased demand when faucets are left running. Conserving water helps reduce stress on the system and allows our crews to continue providing reliable service to the community.
Thank you for doing your part to conserve water, protect your plumbing, and support system reliability during this cold weather. Stay safe and warm! ❄️
