🔥Don’t overfill fireplaces/wood-burning stoves

🚨Have working smoke alarms in your home!

🚨 Burn Ban Issued for St. Landry Parish 🚨

In response to ongoing dry and windy weather conditions, St. Landry Parish Government is issuing a burn ban effective Tuesday, October 15, 2024, and continuing until further notice. This burn ban applies to all activities involving an open flame that produces embers.

The combination of dry conditions and high winds presents a significant risk for grass fires, as wind can carry embers away from the original fire, igniting new spot fires. The ban is being put in place following the recommendation of the state climatologist, and St. Landry Parish is currently under a Red Flag Warning.

This proactive measure is aimed at assisting our local first responders by reducing the number of grass fire calls they must respond to due to the dangerous weather conditions.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation in keeping our community safe.

For more information, contact the St. Landry Parish Government at (337) 948-3688.
