Save Our Silos LLC

Save Our Silos LLC Restoration for the historic twin silos located at Hwy 190 East at I-49 in Opelousas, LA. People have said they want the Twin Silos restored.

The Twin Silos are an Opelousas Landmark and are located at Hwy 190 East and I-49 intersection in Opelousas, LA. We are working to make that happen. Along with your help, we are taking the initiative to save and restore the silos to protect the silos for us and future generations. The targeted amount for the Save Our Silos project is estimated to be between $55k to $60k. Total time start to finish, upon securing funding, would be approximately 3-5 months.

Under the shed is a "hit and miss" gasoline engine that was used as the power source for the silo loading elevator.

David advised that to his knowledge, communicated from his father, they used a "slip form and mortar/cement with broken bricks for the fill aggregate (the equivalent of rocks in concrete) The broken bricks came from a brick manufacturing plant that was located where Belmont/Sheriff's office is presently.
