***From the Desk of Marshal Paul Mouton***

Marshal Paul Mouton and Governor Jeff Landry recently met and had a great discussion about the City of Opelousas and Ward One. Among many things, Adequate funding for Law enforcement, repairs of our road-ways, repair and maintenance of our educational institutions, funding for elderly services and State Sponsored funding for the Economic Development of Opelousas and Ward One were some of the topics that they discussed. We have learned that reducing crime takes way more then just enforcing the law. Marshal Paul Mouton is committed to enhancing the critical infrastructure for the City of Opelousas/Ward One and will work with all branches of legislature to accomplish this goal.

Today, we commissioned Lance Armentor, CEO of Opelousas General Health System, as a Special Deputy, recognizing his valuable contributions. Through his collaboration with the Opelousas/Ward One Marshals Office, Mr. Armentor has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing our community. As a critical infrastructure component, the hospital requires adequate resources to serve Opelousas and Ward One effectively. By investing in infrastructure, we aim to decrease crime rates and promote a higher quality of life for all Opelousas residents.

We often provide mutual aid to agencies around the state in times of need. By doing this it enables me, Marshal Paul Mouton, the authority to request the same aid when the great citizens of Opelousas are in need.

Deputies assigned to the Opelousas Marshals C.I.U. while conducting proactive criminal patrols in the 1st Ward of St Landry Parish initiated a traffic stop. During the course of the stop deputies located approximately 2 ounces of a green leafy substance believed to be ma*****na. Also located was a firearm. The driver ,who was a convicted felon was placed under arrest and booked into the St Landry Parish Jail.

Deputies assigned to the Opelousas Marshals Office Criminal Interdiction Unit were conducting proactive criminal patrols when they initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hiram and Washington Street. After a short foot pursuit CIU deputies were able to capture one of the occupants. From this stop deputies located approximately 3Lbs of suspected Ma*****na and a Stolen Firearm. One of the occupants was also found to have an active arrest warrant and was featured on the St Landry Parish Crime Stoppers List. Arrested was:
