🎉 CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR RETIREMENT, BRENT POTEET! 🎉

Today we celebrate Brent Poteet, Director of Opelika Power Services, and the years of leadership, dedication, and service he has given to OPS and our community.

Brent wasn’t just a great leader, he was someone who knew the importance of having a good sense of humor and enjoying a good laugh. He truly believed that laughter is good for the soul, and he had a way of bringing humor and lightheartedness into the workplace that made the days a little brighter.

Thank you, Brent, for believing in people, encouraging others, and making so many feel welcomed and valued as part of the OPS family. Your leadership and your personality have left a lasting impression that won’t soon be forgotten.

While we’re definitely going to miss seeing you around OPS, we’re happy to see you begin this next chapter. You’ve worked hard, you’ve made a difference, and now it’s time to ride off into the sunset! 🌅🏍️

Our crews are continuing to work in the remaining affected area to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

We are currently aware of two separate outages in our service area:

🔌 Fox Run Pkwy / Jordan’s Gate / Covenant Dr. & surrounding areas
Approximately 100 customers are currently without power.

🔌 S. Uniroyal Rd. / Columbus Pkwy area
Approximately 200 customers are currently without power.

Our crews have been notified and will be dispatched as soon as it is safe to do so.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team works to respond safely and restore power as quickly as possible.

🚨 TEMPORARY GARBAGE COLLECTION DELAYS EXPECTED DUE TO EQUIPMENT ISSUES 🚨

Residents may experience temporary delays in garbage collection over the next few days due to several garbage trucks currently being out of service.

Our Environmental Services crews are working diligently to maintain regular collection schedules and will make every effort to pick up garbage on each neighborhood's normal route day. However, some routes may be delayed until the following day.

Residents whose garbage is not collected on their regularly scheduled day are asked to leave their garbage out overnight. Crews will return and complete collection as soon as possible, with the goal of collecting missed routes the following day.

Residents who receive back-door garbage collection service may experience delays of one or two days. Crews will work to ensure these collections are completed by the end of the week.

We understand the importance of dependable garbage collection and apologize for any inconvenience these temporary delays may cause. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents as our crews work through the equipment issue and continue serving the community.
