February is Heart Month, so please consider taking a CPR course. Recently, the Oostburg community has experienced first-hand the importance of family members starting CPR immediately, with the result of lives being saved. Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center dispatchers are trained to guide callers in starting CPR. Help them help you until first responders arrive! Save a life, learn CPR.
Here are some Red Cross training options, most can be completed online:

Official Red Cross website. Learn CPR, get certified, and gain lifesaving skills that can help you respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies.

We have heard it mentioned that some 911 callers get frustrated with all the questions. The questions ensure proper resources get to the patient. The system does work, and we want to thank all of our dispatchers who are part of that system.

Need an Ambulance?

As Emergency Medical Dispatchers, we must utilize a structured and standardized set of protocols for every medical call (emergent and non-emergent), which have been designed to assist in providing critical support and quality care to the public.

Regardless of the call, we must ask for the address and phone number twice (unless calling from a landline). Below is a picture of our initial entry questions that we must go through before branching off into more specific questions related to the person's chief complaint.

But don't worry, another Communications Officers is assisting in paging out emergency responders!

So please be patient with our Communications Officers. We want to ensure you receive the correct resources for the problem at hand as quickly as possible.
