So, a Michigan Republican legislator sat in Lansing this week and pledged to support the Trump administration command to REDUCE food assistance for those on Medicaid to stop waste fraud and abuse. This while his leader rains destruction on Iran and helps Israel conquer the Middle East. This WHITE man has never applied for food stamps, never been hungry and obviously would not feed anyone he met who was hungry. I wonder, how do these people get elected? How is this government of, for and by the People? I am begging everyone who reads this to register to vote, vote absentee if necessary, and vote to keep democracy alive in Michigan and this country. Elect people who will find the REAL waste, fraud and abuse: start at the top with the trickle down theory.

Remember the East Wing of the White House? Remember the giant ballroom that the tech billionaires have agreed to fund in its place to gain access to the president?

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is making a gallant effort to stop this. And we can help.

Thanks to the National Trust, we have until March 4 to submit comments about the ballroom to the National Capital Planning Commission. You can make a comment through the link below (click on Submit Comment). PLEASE NOTE, the project is called East Wing Modernization on the pull down menu.

Anara Guard's comment on this is beautiful. She has given permission to post it, if anyone wants to use her language:

I oppose the spending of $300 million on this project, which was initiated without the proper authorization, permits, or design review. It is not a modernization project but rather a complete razing of American history. I want this project canceled, and the East Wing rebuilt and restored to its former design. No one is above the law and to permit this project to go ahead without penalizing those who broke the law would be an affront to all law-abiding Americans.

Protecting Our Land, Water, Air and Open Spaces Our land, water and clean air are a treasures belonging to all citizens in our state and we want environmental policies that protect these treasure. We support actions that will minimize the devastating impacts of climate change. Health Care is a Right; Not a Privilege Our health care system should put people before profits. In Ontonagon County, 35% of our population is over age 65 and 44% receive a Social Security benefit. We oppose efforts, at the federal and state levels, to block or repeal the many benefits of the Affordable Care Act. We oppose cuts to Medicare. Our Children are our Future Education is the means for achieving a better quality of life. Every child deserves a world class education. Our state needs to invest in education, so our children are prepared at every level of learning and ready to compete in the economy.
