🎉 Happy Birthday to Our Fire Family! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating the February birthdays of the men who show up day in and day out to protect our community — our full-time firefighters, part-time firefighters, and associates.

Whether you’re running calls at all hours, training behind the scenes, supporting operations, or answering the call whenever needed — you matter, and you’re appreciated more than words can say.

Thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping our community safe. We’re proud to serve alongside each and every one of you.

Drop a 🎂 or 🚒 in the comments and help us wish our firefighters the happiest of birthdays! 💪🔥

On February 20, 2026, at approximately 1:50 PM, Ontario Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a residential structure fire at 748 SW 4th Street in Ontario. Engine 103 (crew of 4) responded and requested a general page to alert off-duty staff. Support 106 (crew of 1) and Command 105 (crew of 1) responded as well. While in route, dispatch notified crews that all occupants had evacuated the residence.

Engine 103 arrived to find flames coming from the single-story structure with a basement and made an offensive attack on the fire. 106 assumed safety officer and 105 assumed incident command. Residents notified Ontario Fire that four dogs were still inside of the residence. At approximately 1:59 PM, Engine 101 (crew of 6) arrived on scene and assisted with ventilation and interior search. During an interior search of the residence, firefighters removed four dogs. Unfortunately, two of the dogs perished due to smoke inhalation. Rescue 1 (crew of 3) arrived at the scene at approximately 2:07 PM and were assigned to staging, until they responded to a medical emergency at 2:36 PM.

There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters. Ontario Fire & Rescue's Chaplain provided services to the occupants and assisted with their animals. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. In total, eleven firefighters took part in the operation. Ontario Police Department, Treasure Valley Paramedics, and Idaho Power assisted in the operation.

🕯️ Planning a candle-lit dinner tonight? We love the vibes… but let’s keep it safe!

A few quick candle safety tips from your local firefighters:
• Never leave candles unattended
• Keep candles at least 12 inches away from anything that can burn
• Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface
• Keep candles out of reach of kids and pets
• Blow them out before you leave the room or go to bed

A romantic dinner shouldn’t turn into a call to 911. 😉
Stay safe, enjoy your night, and remember — fire safety starts at home. ❤️🚒
