“Thomas Ranch Fire” was approx 1600-1800 acres in 40-50mph winds, an absolute nightmare of a fire. Before we were on scene there were 8 total departments mobilizing and en route for mutual aid, 20 plus water tankers, 12 disks, county blades, and countless other community members sending support. We were working with Oahe electric and Basin electric in the background to ensure the overhead lines weren’t compromised from what they could monitor on their end. We activated the forest service SEAT planes in rapid city after being on scene less than 5 minutes but were unable to get to us safely due to the high winds. It took everything we could get our hands on to contain the fire and we couldn’t have done it without our friends and neighbors. Hats off to everyone for the effort and willingness to answer the call
