Chamber Coffee will be hosted by the Friends of the Onawa Public Library on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Come and see the musical garden, butterfly garden and help kick off the summer reading program for the kids.

Events:

Thursday, June 11th the American Legion Post and Auxiliary will be hosting a Flag Retirement ceremony and pot luck at the Monona County Fair Grounds at 6:00 PM.

Thursday, June 11th the Monona County Libraries & Monona County Conservation are hosting our annual Night Hike in the Whiting Woods. Pre-hike activities start at 8 followed by the hike through the woods with some new stations to experience! Everyone is welcome!!!

Friday, June 12th Burgess Golf Tournament in Mapleton 9:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 13th from 1:00 - 5:00 PM Jordan's Sportscards and Loess Hills Pet Collective will be hosting a Pokémon day! Everyone is welcome and there will be door prizes to win!!!

Saturday, June 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM: Teens' Tacos and Trivia night! All 6th through 12th graders welcome to join Megan and Rachel for yummy tacos-in-a-bag, trivia, and other fun games! Free!

Sunday, June 14th from 10 - 4 (come and go as you please) Fiber Arts Workshop. Join us with your works in progress, show and tell, or just to visit!

Sunday, June 14th Flag Day!

Wednesday, June 17th Onawa City Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m. At City Hall.

Looking for something to do this Sunday afternoon? The Summer reading program kick off is this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Onawa Public Library with the Farm to Fork Adventures in Iowa and then fun in the library yard (or inside if it's raining). They are having Pixie's Pony Tales, Learning for Life, Funktastic photos has big games, Barn Loft, yard games and much more fun.

Come help kick off a great start to the Summer Reading Program at the Onawa Public Library.

Sunday, June 7th Farm to Fork Adventures in Iowa Agriculture at the Onawa Public Library 2:00 p.m.

Monday, June 8th Onawa Business Alliance Meeting at the Senior Center 9:30 a.m. Two members of the Ragbrai Executive Committee will be in attendance to answer any Ragbrai questions.

Tuesday, June 9th Author DeAnn Kruempel will be at the Onawa Public Library 10:00 a.m.

Tuesday, June 9th Summer Reading Program kicks off with Incredible Bats program at 1:00 p.m.

Iowa Theater will be showing Star Wars Mandalorian and Grogu.

Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Monona County Abstract on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Please come help celebrate Janet Stukenholtz retirement and see their new location.

In September, 2025, the Monona County Abstract Co. moved from 708 Iowa Avenue, where the business has been since 1902. They moved to their new location at 904 Iowa Avenue, giving them added space and a new, refreshing look. Janet Stukenholtz has worked as an abstracter for 30 years and will be retiring at the end of May. Please come celebrate the new location and Janet’s retirement on May 29th from 9:30-10:30 am.

On Monday, May 25th will be the Memorial Day Services at the Onawa Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Special guest speaker for this years service will be Larry Haitz, 9th District Commander of the Iowa American Legion.
