Yesterday, we responded to a garage fire in the City of Omro. We were able to extinguish the fire quickly, before it extended into the home. Our thoughts are with the homeowners during this difficult time.

You have all seen pictures and the stories of our department on the front lines facing smoke and flames, at a vehicle accident, helping land a medical helicopter to transport a patient, and any other emergency we get called to.
These are a few pictures of "The After" and these are important as well. It is of utmost importance that all our gear be cleaned properly to get the "yuck" off that can cause illness. This helps clean off the contaminants that can make our volunteers sick.
Trucks being cleaned, equipment being returned to its proper place, hoses getting washed and laid out to dry, and then being rolled back up and carefully put back on the truck to ensure safe deployment for the next call.
"The After" is a process taken seriously by all those involved and is very important. This ensures our volunteers are healthy and our apparatus is ready to go in a moments notice for the next emergency.

Yesterday after was a busy one for our fire department! First we were paged for an Ice Rescue, quickly followed by a barn fire, then concluded with a traffic accident all within a 6 hour timeframe . Here are some photos that Nicole and Kendra captured while we were at the barn fire . Thank you to Algoma, Utica, and Nekimi for the mutual aid assistance at the Barn Fire! Have a safe Sunday!

Friendly reminder from the sheriff's department.

Earlier today, a deputy was following up a school bus violation report with a local school bus company. The employee at the company commented that it seemed to them that there have been more school bus violations than normal this year. So, we thought it was a good time for a reminder!

Drivers MUST STOP on the street or highway 20 feet or more from any school bus that has stopped and is flashing RED warning lights.

*This applies both to vehicles approaching from the rear and from the opposing lanes.
*All lanes of traffic must stop for the school bus, except in opposing lanes if the highway is divided with a center median.
*No vehicle may proceed until the bus resumes motion and has turned off the red warning lights.
*The stop arm on the bus is an added communication to other drivers, but the lack of an extended stop arm is not a reason to pass a bus whose red lights are flashing.
*In some urban areas buses will signal with yellow lights, or use red lights only in some parts of town. Motorists should observe school buses carefully for either the "pass cautiously" yellow light signal or the required full stop when a bus is flashing red lights.

Everyone wants the kiddos to make to school and back home again safely!
