๐Ÿšจ IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING: Batteries do NOT belong in your garbage carts or dumpsters. What seems like a harmless household item can turn into a disaster in seconds.

๐Ÿ”‹ When batteries especially rechargeable and lithium-ion batteries are tossed into the trash, they get crushed by heavy compaction equipment. This causes them to overheat, spark, and ignite dangerous fires inside our garbage trucks and waste facilities.

โš ๏ธ The Risks are Real:

- ENDANGERING EMPLOYEES: These sudden fires put our collection crews and facility workers at immediate risk of severe injury.
- COMMUNITY HAZARD: Truck and dumpster fires can quickly spread, threatening nearby homes and families.
- MASSIVE DAMAGE: A single battery can destroy an expensive waste vehicle and disrupt essential community services.

๐Ÿ“ Where to Dispose of Them Safely:

Bring them to the Okanogan County Landfill located at 241 B and O North Rd, Okanogan, WA 98840.
- The landfill accepts unbroken automotive and household rechargeable batteries.
- PLEASE NOTE: Battery collection specifically operates on Saturdays only. โฐ

Protect our team and your neighbors by keeping batteries out of your garbage!!
