Melanie’s story is a powerful example of what this event is really about. As both a Brew Haha food vendor and a Habitat homeowner, she represents the lasting impact of affordable homeownership — and what’s possible when a community comes together to support one another.

For 20 years, Brew Haha has brought people together through great food, beverages and fun, while raising critical funds to support Habitat for Humanity of Omaha’s mission to build and preserve affordable homes.

Every door in our "Let's Open the Door" exhibition tells two stories.

The front showcases an original work of art from a local artist, inspired by the question, "What makes a space feel like home?" The back highlights why home matters, sharing how safe, stable housing creates opportunities for stronger families, better health, educational success, and brighter futures.

The market is leaving first-time buyers behind. Home prices are increasing while inventory is shrinking. The "rent trap" is keeping many families stuck and there aren't enough affordable homes to go around.

🎨 Meet Sami Wong, one of our talented artists and staff behind our Let’s Open the Door exhibition!

Sami is a biracial Asian-American designer, illustrator, and Habitat for Humanity of Omaha's Digital Content Creator. Her artwork explores emotion, nostalgia, storytelling, and the beauty of everyday moments. For this project, she designed her door around the idea that home is a feeling before it is ever a place, inspired by loved ones, meaningful memories, and the spaces where she feels most connected.

We're excited to share Sami's personal artwork as part of our celebration of creativity, community, and what makes a space feel like home. 💙
