Hey Y’all! If you haven’t heard Metro Transit Omaha budget hearing is next Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 pm at the Metro Administrative Building 2222 Cuming St., Omaha, NE, 68102.

Over the last few months I’ve worked along side Metro staff, my board colleagues, and TAC to make Metros board meetings more accessible to the public.

We look forward to hearing from everyone!

Hey Y’all! So I’m back again for my POV of the Metro Transit Omaha Transit Advisory Committee Meeting Recap! This month the primary focus of the meeting was a recap of an independent bus stop audit that Metro performed! Very thorough and informative. There are deficits and room for improvement. What stood out to me most is Metros commitment to working with public and private entities to ensure the infrastructure needs of riders is accessible.

I also believe that there is room for community members to advocate directly to the City of Omaha and private developers to include public transit users in their plans.

TAC is currently taking applications. You won’t have to be a transit guru to apply. TAC is made of regular people and regular transit riders who all have an interest in approving public transit!

I attended the Metro Transit Omaha TAC Meeting tonight. There was a full agenda, and comments from the public.

A rider shared the frustration of a colleague in the lack of public transit in West Omaha. There was also a comment on public safety related to Vision Zero projects, and painted crosswalks.

We were all very happy to hear that Metro is doing a hiring push, and has a goal to hire 60 fixed route operators. Metro is looking for operators who are customer service and community driven. Be on the lookout for further details soon!

Metro staff did a presentation on MicroFlex, and a representative from Via Transportation was present to answer questions. Metro does offer training session for MicroFlex, MOBY, and fixed routes.

We were invited to attend community events happening with Metro this month. I’m most excited for OMATOPIA - Transit Workshop happening Wednesday, July 29th at Joslyn Castle!
