We began as the Women's Division of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. In 1975, the Omaha Women's Chamber of Commerce (OWCC) became an independent organization. The OWCC is comprised of individuals with a business, professional, or civic interest in the greater Omaha area. Our goal is to give our members opportunities to learn about the cultural, civic, and business communities in greater Omaha, and t
o contribute to the betterment of our community. We meet on the second Wednesday of every month for a dinner meeting, each time at different restaurants throughout the city. Our meeting programs consist of a variety of topics and speakers, each of which is an opportunity to learn more about our city. Our members are diverse in experiences, but are all interested in learning about and helping the development of Omaha. We also have other opportunities for our members to contribute to the development of the city. Some of our activities include:
•Sponsoring a delegate for Girls' State
•Serving meals at Stephens Center
•Ringing bells for the Salvation Army
•Awarding college scholarships to single heads of household with dependent children
•Collecting donations for various community and charitable organizations
•Welcoming new citizens at naturalization ceremonies for Douglas County
