This Memorial Day, we honor the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to military members and the families who stand beside them every day.

At HFS, we are proud to support our neighbors in the Armed Forces through our extensive services, including crisis support and mental health counseling. Because caring for those who serve, and those who love them, matters every day of the year.

Today, Heartland Family Service CEO John Jeanetta and HFS Community Relations designer Peter Bejmuk wore their vyshyvankas — traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts — in recognition of International Vyshyvanka Day.

For Ukrainians around the world, the vyshyvanka is a powerful symbol of heritage, resilience, and hope. Here in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa, it is also a reminder of the Ukrainian families who have become part of our broader community, including those rebuilding their lives after fleeing war.

Since 2009, Heartland Family Service has hosted 40 Ukrainian delegates participating in the Open World Leadership Center, a program of the Congressional Office of International Leadership, and is honored to support individuals and families from many backgrounds as they seek safety, stability, and a path forward.

🙌 Generosity showed up in a big way last week! Huge thanks to our partner Spreetail for donating 80 new beds and bedding!

Also, to our amazing HFS staff who rolled up their sleeves to unload the truck 😅and find good homes for the beds in our residential programs! 💪 We see lots of sheep being counted in the nights ahead! 🛏️🐑🐑🐑
