Neighborhood Cleanup

In conjunction with “Keep Omaha Beautiful” and the City of Omaha, the Karen Western Neighborhood Association will provide free dumpsite at the Karen-Western School parking lot on Saturday May 18th, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Here is a perfect opportunity to clean out your garages, basements and yards and get ready for summer.

As in the past, we have also arranged to have a trailer available for metals. Please remember, we will not be able to take appliances such as water heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and dryers, those may be taken to the City Maintenance Facility at 6880 Q Street. We also cannot accept any tires. Rims without tires will be accepted in the metal trailer. However, if you do have tires or tires with rims, they may be dropped off at the Hanscom Park Neighborhood Association clean-up site at 30th and Wright Street. ( St. Adalberts Church South Parking lot).

Other Items we will not take: We will not be taking yard waste. We will provide a voucher that will allow you to take yard waste to River City Recycling at 6404 South 60th Street. We will not be able to take rocks or concrete. We will not take automotive batteries. Batteries can be taken to any auto parts store. We will not take liquids or toxic materials such as paint. All liquids and hazardous substances can be taken to Under-the-Sink on 120th and F Street.

And finally, in the interest of saving space and our tax dollars, we ask that you do not bring items that could normally be set out for regular garbage or recyclable curbside collections.

Please remember this is not a service for any commercial company.

Unless we get volunteers, we will not be able to provide pick-up for the handicapped or elderly at their homes. If you have a pick up truck and can help, please give me a call at the number listed below.

Volunteers are also needed that day to help unload cars and trucks. If you can help, please give me a call at the number below so we can coordinate your efforts. We will have an organizational meeting at Karen School on May 7th at 7:00pm.

And as always, any donation will help pay for the expenses of the clean up and other KWNA programs. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please call Duane Brooks at 402-651-6963.

OCCP Banquet

OCCP Banquet. The banquet is scheduled for October 4th, Tuesday. I have attached the flyer for your review and use. Sgt Dumont will be at the September 3rd OCCP meeting with tickets for sale -- they are $8.00 each. Each table has 10 chairs. You can also purchase your tickets at the NW Precinct front desk. The last day to purchase tickets is September 28th. Another thing you should consider is your choice for your patrol's patroller of the year -- this is not required, just a nice option. Please provide the person(s) name(s) to Sgt Dumont as soon as possible -- correct spelling please. Another item you can do if you desire is to name an OPD officer of the year. If you decide to submit an OPD officer, please coordinate with the individual and find out if he/she can attend and also if they plan to bring their significant other. If they plan to attend you are required to purchase tickets for them. Also, provide the officer's name to Sgt Dumont -- correct spelling please.
